In a rare but special event that happened in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur, a 53-year-old woman got married the same day her 27-year-old daughter tied the knot in a wedding ceremony held under Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojna.

The 53-year-old woman, identified as Beli Devi, lost her husband Harihar 25 years ago and married his younger brother Jagdish (55) at the same ceremony where 63 other couples, including her 27-year-old daughter Indu and son-in-law, got married. Jagdish is apparently a farmer and was unmarried until now. "My two sons and two daughters are already married so with the marriage of my youngest daughter, I decided to marry my brother-in-law. All my children are happy," the 53-year-old woman was quoted as saying by a news agency.

Meanwhile, Indu, who married 29-year-old Rahul, reportedly said, "My mother and uncle took care of us and I am very happy that now they will look after each other." Senior district officials had attended the mass ceremony.
