A chilling CCTV footage shows a journalist based in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad being shot by a group of men in front of his two daughters late Monday night.

The journalist, identified as Vikram Joshi, was travelling with his two daughters in a motorcycle on Monday night when he was attacked by the group of men in the Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad. The attack was recorded in a CCTV camera in the area. The video shows the victim being shot at multiple times and subsequently collapsing when a bullet hits his head. He was immediately rushed to the Yashoda Hospital where his condition is said to be critical. Five people have been arrested in connection with the case. The journalist was apparently given a life threat by the men after he filed a complaint against them with the police for harassing his niece. "The family has alleged inadequate action by the local police post in-charge, who has been suspended with immediate effect considering the gravity of the matter. A departmental inquiry has been ordered and the local Circle Officer will probe the matter," a police official stated, according to reports.

Following a complaint registered by Vikram Joshi's brother Aniket Joshi, an FIR was registered against the accused under sections 307 (attempted murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (act done by several people with a common intention). The police have arrested three of the men while they are on the lookout for the rest of them.
