Facing a complete rout in the GHMC elections, the Congress party is in an embarrassing situation. In the wake of the humiliating performance of the Grand Old Party, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday evening resigned from the post.
The Nalgonda MP, who was the Minister of Housing in the Kiran Kumar Reddy cabinet of the united Andhra Pradesh, has apparently accepted the responsibility for his party's defeat in the civic polls.
Under his watch, the Congress party has lost its No. 2 position in Telangana. The place has now come to be occupied by the BJP with a resounding force, as the Dubbaka by-poll victory and its impressive performance in the December 1 civic polls show. The 2018 Assembly election debacle, too, was something he couldn't recover from.
It has to be seen as to who will grow in the party after the decline of his authority.
