A young Indian woman, who hailed from Gudlavaleru in Andhra Pradesh's Krishna district, died in the United States after accidentally slipping into a waterfall while taking a selfie.
The woman, identified as P Kamala, and her fiance visited the Bald River Falls in Tennessee on September 12 after visiting a relative in Atlanta and both of them slipped and fell into the falls, according to reports. The man was rescued by bystanders but the woman could not be located. She was later found under a log and despite people performing CPR on her, she could not be revived and was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. The young woman, who was employed at a software company, had gone to the US after completing her graduation. "She graduated with an engineering degree and went for further studies to the US. She even found a job," her mother reportedly stated. Kamala's sister is apparently married and resides with her husband in Chennai.
"The Telugu Association has said they will help bring the body home," the deceased woman's father said. A similar incident was reported in October 2018 when an Indian couple fell to their deaths while taking a selfie at a steep cliff in California's Yosemite National Park.
