The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the US, has said in an advisory that travel to India should be avoided. This advisory comes at a time when India has become a global coronavirus hotspot.
In a statement, the CDC said, "Even fully-vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading variants and should avoid all travel to India. If you must travel to India, get fully vaccinated before travel (sic).'
India is not the only country against which there is a travel advisory in the US. The advisory is both specific and general. The general advisory says that all international travel should be avoided in view of the second wave in countries like India. Countries like Germany have seen the third/fourth wave, too.
In August last, the US rescinded such travel advisories. Based on an assessment of infection rates, the availability of local testing and treatment, the fresh advisory has been issued.
