Santosh Sivan's cinematographical marvel, 'Urumi', will be screened at the NHK Asian Film Festival in Japan. The film, released in August 2011, was originally made in Malayalam and subsequently dubbed in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. 'Urumi' is set in the 15th century and Vasco Da Gama's expedition of Kerala formed the backdrop of the story.

A mix of both fact and fiction, 'Urumi' stars Prithviraj, Arya, Prabhu Deva, Genelia D' Souza, Jagathy Ravikumar in the main cast. Lauded by critics, it was also lapped up by the lovers of historical-fantasy films.

Made in a big scale, it also featured Vidya Balan and Tabu in cameo appearances. The dialogues written in neat prose are one of the USPs of this biggie.

Its international stature was a foregone conclusion.
