Analysis
Tejus Kancherla looked good on the screen. He showed good mannerisms and swag but at times one gets a feeling that he is imitating other young heroes. He worked hard and in some scenes excelled with his performance especially in the second half. Khushboo Choudhary made her debut in Tollywood with this film. She attracted with her beautiful looks and gorgeous presence on the screen. Anand Chakrapani sported a different look in the film and looked interesting. Goparaju Ramana is underutilized as he played the typical role of the hero's father. Sudarshan evoked few laughs in the film while Chammak Chandra failed to entertain viewers.
Director Vivek Reddy penned the story for Uruku Patela. He tried to entertain viewers with youthful romantic and thrilling elements. He included all kind of emotions in the story be it father and son, romantic elements, twists, hilarious scenes etc. However he failed completely with his screenplay and direction. The biggest drawback turned out to be his writing.
He passed the entire first half with routine and predictable scenes except for few couple of twists in the entire story. He failed to elevate the scenes and the silly narration tested the patience of the viewers. After the first half interval twist, the second half fades completely and the climax turns out to be predictable and routine.
The songs of Praveen Lakkaraju failed to make an impact. His background music fared little better. The editing of Shashank Vupputuri is ok but could have been far better. Sunny Kurapati's cinematography is captivating and turned the film's scenes colorful. Dialogues are pretty ordinary and production values are good.
Verdict
Tejus Kancherla's Uruku Patela directed by Vivek Reddy for all the efforts failed to either entertain or thrill movie lovers as the film's story turned out to be predictable except for couple of twists.
