One more wicket is down. 'Rangeela' actress and senior Bollywoodian Urmila Matondkar has resigned from the Congress party. It may be recalled that, only in March this year, she joined the Grand Old Party in the presence of then President Rahul Gandhi. She contested as an MP from Mumbai North and lost the seat badly to her BJP rival.
The 44-year-old actress-turned-activist-turned-politician has blamed inner-party politics for her dejection with the party. A few days back, she made accusations against the aides of Sanjay Nirupam, a senior Congressman. Her letter to the party heads was leaked to the media by unknown elements within the party. This seemingly hurt Urmila.
"The party has been gamed by vested interests. My political and social sensibilities don't allow me to be used by petty interests," Urmila today said.
