Director Vijayakumar is one of the many young filmmakers and actors who took part in the condolence meet for suicide victim Anita held in Chennai Loyola college recently. The event was organised by director Pa.Ranjith's Neelam Foundation.

This is what the 'Uriyadi' director spoke at the event.

"Who killed Anita. How many hands carry the stains of her blood? I am a cinema person. I am not an expert in law and history. But I know which is right and which is wrong. That girl had a ambition. For that ambition she was struggling hard and studied well to score 1176 marks. Her house does not even have a toilet. Only three buses would come to her village on a day. Coming across all the struggles she has achieved this. She was said we will get exemption from NEET. Then it was said we won't get it. That girl was give enormous mental torture. Who snatched the medical seat from her hands.

Who pushed her for suicide? That girl did not die. All of them killed her. The Indian Constitution says it is a basic right of an individual to live a standard life. Shouldn't we add Education as a basic right? We get one month notice from owners to vacate a house? Shouldn't we give enough time gap for an exam like this? Even a financially well off student cannot prepare enough for an exam in this short notice. Can Government school students clear NEET without having any extra coaching?If that is not possible, is it an indirect sketch to extract fees by private schools and private coaching centers? We should start raising voice. Ranjith anna has created this platform. All of us should raise our voice against this. Putting Facebook posts was seen as useless until we won the Jallikattu protest.

Lets talk about this and continue raising our voice in Facebook and in tea shop discussions. If we raise our voice unitedly, laws will be enacted for us. That has been proved in Jallikattu protest. Finally I wish to quote Dr.Ambedkar- "We cannot get back our rights by begging. Justice will not emerge by resolutions and pleading with them. Goats are sacrificed in front of temples not Lions."
