Suriya apart from being one of the topmost star actors is also very active as a producer handpicking offbeat films and grooming them under his 2D Entertainment banner. He is currently bankrolling 'Uriyadi 2' the sequel to the critically acclaimed 2016 film directed by Vijayakumar that spoke against the evils of casteism in Tamil Nadu.

Suriya's 2D Entertainment's official release read " The 'Uriyadi' team has finished the entire film in lightning speed and has wrapped up the shoot in a single schedule of just 36 days". Vijayakumar once again plays the lead role and also directs the film while Govind Vasantha of '96' fame is scoring the music. Most of the cast members of the original film also feature in this project and the teaser and audio launch is expected to be held in the coming weeks.
