Upendra directed films have become a rage and he remained the cult figure from the days of ‘Sh….’ ‘Om’ was a blockbuster in 1995 starring Shivarajakumar and the Telugu version of this film was played by Dr. Rajashekar. Later Upendra taken up a film starring Raghavendra Rajakumar that had only ‘Swastik’ sign as the title.

From ‘A’ he became an actor too for his own direction. ‘A’ created a box office history. After this he starred in a film titled in his own name ‘Upendra’ that saw the 100 days screening for producer Shilpa Srinivas. The onus of losses of ‘H2O’ a Kannada and Tamil bilingual film fell on him even though he did not directed that film. It is only after ‘H2O’ Upendra got married to heroine of the film Priyanka.
