The 'superstar' of Kannada cinema Upendra has ditched three joint producers of 'Kempegowda' Kannada film on the grounds of remuneration. Producers Soorappa Babu, Vijayakumar and Kamalakar purchased the rights of Chiranjeevi's Telugu blockbuster 'Mutta Mestri' after Upendra approved of it six months ago. Then the talks held made the producers to select director M.S.Ramesh, conduct the pooja for the song recording, the technicians, costumes, locations were also selected.
Suddenly Upendra went wrong on the remuneration says producer Soorappa Babu. For the already agreed (when the advance of Rs.5 lakh was paid in Mysore) Rs.63 lakhs Upendra said the remuneration would be Rs.81 lakhs. On the backtracking from Upendra the producers have now dropped the film 'Kempe Gowda'. It is the same Soorappa Babu introduced Upendra as director 14 years ago from 'Tharle Nanna Maga'. Upendra used to ask for Rs.15 from Soorappa Babu and had said he will be ever obliging to him.
The news is that the trio producers are contemplating to sit on a dharna (As on 28th September) in front of Upendra's JP Nagar house demanding the advance amount and the remake rights price becausing keeping his stature it was brought and it would not suit any other hero in Kannada. Meanwhile on why Upendra played this game is because he has agreed 'Kalki' that went on the floors on his birthday - September 18, the political subject in that Munirathna produced film is also similar to that of 'Kempe Gowda'(remake of 'Mutta Mesthri').
After two major debacles 'Jeshta' and 'Kadamba' (both starring Vishnuvardhana directed by Suresh Krishna) producer Soorappa Babu is a badly hit man. At this inconvenient situation he went and asked Upendra to give his call sheet for 'Mutta Mesthri' so that he could save from the clutches of loan. After promising to help Upendra now behaves like a rock.
This is what called brutality to loyalty!
