A privacy expert found thousands of personal Zoom videos with company financial info, therapy sessions, school classes and nudity - were left unsecured without passwords, accessible for anyone in the internet.
Lot of people are using this video call platform for continuing business due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing and lockdown restrictions. Currently Zoom has 200 million users compared to just 10 million in December but with no security measures, videos have been left exposed, with names and phone numbers, therapy sessions, school children's faces and personal details and a video also featured nudity.
Privacy-software Disconnect's chief technology officer, Patrick Jackson uncovered the videos with a free online search engine and later exposed the security flaw. The videos are searchable online and available to download as well, and he had found more than 15,000 videos. Zoom does not record video calls but allow call hosts to record them and save them to Zoom's servers or computers.
