Sunil, who has played a businessman in 'Ungarala Rambabu', is a happy man. In this interview, the comedy hero talks about his beliefs, being a farmer in the past, his upcoming movies, and more.

"Although I do believe in astrology and stones, I didn't do this movie because of my beliefs. Kranthi Madhav garu came to me with three stories. Two of them sounded heavy for me. I wanted to entertain the audience with a comedy and here we are," says Sunil about his character and his beliefs.

How is the response to the movie and is Sunil happy about that? "The film has been getting a positive response. In fact, it has been received better than what I had expected. 'Jakkanna' was a big hit in my career. After that, it's 'Ungarala Rambabu' that has the potential to rake in the moolah," he avers.

Elaborating on how the film has been doing since its release, Sunil reveals, "The theatres in Andhra ran to packed houses on Friday. In Nizam, the occupancy is about 80 per cent. Single screens, especially, are seeing a very good turn-out."

He is counting on the film's emotional content. "The first half is full of comedy and the second half gets serious with respect to the story. It has an emotional core. The audiences are especially liking the second half," the comedy hero informs.

How is the role he played in the film relatable? "I am the only male grandchild of my late grandfather. Since the rest of them are women, only I used to do farming along with him. After he died, we leased a portion of our agri land. The remaining land was worked by me. It's because I have done farming in the past that I could emotionally connect with the film's theme and climax," Sunil elaborates.

Sunil was supposed to play Ali's role in 'Khaidi No. 150'. Is he ready for such roles? "I am open to playing comedy roles even as I continue to play male leads. I have always said this. I have been offered comedian roles from the beginning. But my producers bankrolling my films in which I am the male lead would say that me doing comedy roles might affect their movie. But I will do comedy roles from now. I will tell my producers about this beforehand," he says.

Sunil's next film is directed by N Shankar. It's the official remake of 'Two Countries'. "I am also going to do the Telugu remake of 'Sethuranga Vettai', the Tamil movie. Another film is in the pipeline. I will talk about it a week from now," he signs off.
