A Madurai girl Nethra, daughter of a saloon shop owner who was appreciated by Indian prime minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki baat program has got a huge honour now as she has been appointed as United Nations goodwill ambassador for the poor.
Nethra's father Mohan runs a saloon in Melamadai, Madurai and during the lockdown, he has helped many people suffering, with the money he had saved for his daughter's education. He revealed that it was Nethra who insisted him to spend the money to help people.
Prime minister Narendra Modi had praised this hearty gesture of Nethra and after many celebrities had appreciated her, United Nations association for Development and peace has announced her as goodwill ambassador of poor and have awarded Rs 1 lakh for her future. She has also been given an opportunity to speak in the United Nations meeting in Geneva.
