Adult content websites like YouPorn, PornHub, etc., that are more popular than Twitter, Netflix, and Instagram among young adults across the globe currently will start to have an access barrier in the UK as their government is about to bring in age verification for online pornography from July 15.

The law is supposedly going to be enforced in an attempt to restrict children from viewing inappropriate/explicit images and videos. A system called AgeID has been developed by the company that owns Pornhub and YouPorn. An official from the company said in a statement, “First, a user can register an AgeID account using an email address and password, both of which are protected by a salted, one-way hash. The user verifies their email address and then chooses an age verification option from our list of 3rd party providers, using options such as Mobile SMS, Credit Card, Passport, or Driving License. Once verified, users will be able to seamlessly browse between all AgeID protected sites and use multiple devices without the need for repeated verification.”
