Here's an interesting development on Abhishek Chaubey's much talked project 'Udta Punjab'. As per latest media reports, hot shot producer Ekta Kapoor has come on board of the film's team as a co-producer. Ekat Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures now joins hands with Phantom Films, comprising of Madhu Mantena, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl.

It is said that Ekta was quite impressed with the script of 'Udta Punjab' and showed her excitement to join the film's team. When she heard about the film's concept she immediately called up Mantena and expressed her wish to produce it as well. Earlier both banners, Balaji and Phantom, had worked for the first time with 'Lootera'. Ekta admires the fantastic and talented team of Phantom Films and hence she was eager to work with them again.

'Udta Punjab' stars Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor-Khan and Punjab superstar Diljit Dosanjh. The film deals with drug abuse in Punjab.
