Two creative power houses namely Phantom Films and Balaji Motion Pictures have come together to produce 'Udta Punjab'. Ekat Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures now joins hands with Phantom Films, comprising of Madhu Mantena, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl.
Post ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, Abhishek Chaubey's next 'Udta Punjab' has an interesting casting coup of sorts, which makes it one of the most anticipated movies. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as the lead pair for the first time, the film also features Shahid's ex-flame Kareena Kapoor-Khan. However, it is said that they don't have any scenes together. The film marks the debut of Punjabi star Diljit Dosanj, who plays Kareena's love interest.
The film revolves around the problem of increasing drug abuse in Punjab and addresses this serious issue.
Shahid Kapoor's look in 'Udta Punjab' has been in the news for various reasons. The actor, for the first time, will be donning as many as 8 to 9 body tattoos in the film. Besides, Shahid has been seen in different avatars for the film requirements, giving rise to speculations that he has multiple looks in the film.
Alia Bhatt's role in Udta Punjab is said to be the toughest and most intense character she has played till date. Alia will be seen playing the role of a Bihari migrant in Punjab. She is also said to be a Hockey player in this one.
