Shahid Kapoor: Stop judging films on promos

The controversial 'Udta Punjab' was cleared for release as scheduled on 17th June 2016, with only one cut and an 'A' certification. The film's team addressed the media at a press conference held at a suburban 5 star hotel, a day after the verdict was out.

The 'Udta Punjab' team comprising of producers from Balaji Motion Pictures and Phantom Films along with Director Abhishek Chaubey and lead actors Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh expressed their gratitude to the media and audience for their support. The team cleared the air and maintained that all their energies are now focused at readying the film for release with the proposed changes.

Lead actor Shahid Kapoor said that he feels Relieved now and that the High Courts decision is respected. Producer Anurag Kashyap stated that,"'Udta Punjab is far from politics and is closest to reality." Director Abhishek Chaubey declared that they were not against anyone but had united all their energies to ensure the films release.

Shahid requested, "Stop judging films on the one-minute promos. Our names and images are at stake. Give credit to this girl (Alia) who is pretty, lovely and has an amazing body of work but decides to play the character. It is brave. Please see the film before limiting it to one word."

The press conference marked a sense of relief and rejoice for the members of the 'Udta Punjab' team who are now looking forward to its release on 17th June 2016.
