Yesterday we had reported that Udhayanidhi's new release 'Manithan' has been denied the entertainment tax exemption granted by the Tamil Nadu State Government for U certified films that fulfill certain other criteria fixed by the government.

It has come out that the Tax Exemption Committee constituted by the government to watch the film and recommend tax exemption has said 'Manithan' does not qualify for the exemption as its title is not a Tamil word but a Sanskrit. The committee members have stated that Maandhan is the chaste Tamil equivalent for the English word Man.

Udhay who is already fighting a legal battle with the government for denying tax exemption for his previous film 'Gethu' has announced that he will file a fresh case for Tax exemption denial for 'Manithan' on Monday.

'Gethu' was also considered as a non-Tamil word by the committee which denied tax exemption for the film.

Meanwhile 'Manithan' which has released on Friday has been getting positive reviews from all corners and the weekend shows are expected to have a housefull run at all centers.
