Tamil cinema stars all through its history have enjoyed special titles given to them by directors, politicians and fans.  The prefixes stick to them for their entire careers such as Makkal Thilagam MGR, Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan, Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Thala Ajith and Thalapathy Vijay to name a few big wigs.In the modern era one actor whose title stands out is Makkal Selvan which was bestowed to Vijay Sethupathi by his mentor Seenu Ramaswamy.  

The veteran filmmaker has now given a similar title to actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin (Lover of the People) which could become an integral part of him from now on and splashed on his movie and political banners.   The title has been used in an ad for the title release of the director's next movie starring GVP and Gayathrie.
