Actor, Producer Udhayanidhi Stalin has knocked the doors of the Court yet another time against the refusal of the Tamil Nadu State Government to grant the 30% Entertainment Tax Exemption for his latest U certified film 'Gethu'.
The eight members of the Tax Exemption committee who watched the film had unanimously stated that the film Gethu is not a Tamil term and hence exemption shall not be granted for the film.
Udhay had however stated that Gethu is a Tamil word and substantiated his claim by sharing the pages from Tamil dictionary which included the word Gethu and its meaning, in his Twitter page.
Now a case has been filed in the Madras High Court on behalf of Udhay's Red Giant Movies banner seeking Tax exemption for the film. In the petition it has been stated that the Government denied tax exemption for the film due to political reasons.
The petitioner pleaded the Judges to quash the Government order denying tax exemption to 'Gethu' and order the Tamil Nadu Government to grant tax exemption for the film.
The Court admitted the petition and posted the matter for hearing on Thursday.
it is worth noting that Udhayanidhi Stalin's previous film 'Nanbenda' was also denied Entertainement Tax exemption and the case pertaining to that is still pending in Court.
