Udhayanidhi Stalin's 'Manithan' has released today and it has been getting positive reviews. Udhay has produced this film under his Red Giant Movies banner apart from acting in the lead role Sakthi, a lawyer.
Now the actor-producer has updated in his Twitter page that 'Manithan' has been denied the Entertainment Tax Exemption, granted by the Tamil Nadu State Government for U certified Tamil films that passes certain other criteria.
Incidentally Udhay's last film 'Gethu' that released for Pongal, was denied the Tax exemption stating that the title is not a Tamil word. A legal battle between Udhay and the Government is still pending in the Madras High Court, in this connection. His 'Oru Kal Oru Kannadi' and 'Nanbenda' also met with the same fate.
The reason for denial of tax exemption for 'Manithan' is yet to be known. Udhay in his Tweet quipped whether that it may be because Manithan is not a Tamil word.
#Manithan denied ent. Tax exemption! Reason they have given-Manithan is not a Tamil word it seems! 😃
