Release of Vicky Kaushal's biographical drama 'Sardar Udham' is right around the corner and fans are super excited to witness the actor in the role of titular revolutionary. In past bollywood movies based on freedon fighters, it can be seen that in order to show the glory and bravery of revolutionaries, filmmakers tend to show them in overpowered form. In a recent interview, Vicky Kaushal shared what his character is all about and how it'll be different from other freedom fighter portrayals.
He said, When you watch the film, you’ll come to know that it’s much more than just revenge, hatred and anger. There’s so much more to Sardar Udham Singh as a character. It’s never hard to express an emotion, but it takes a bit of a task to reach the truth of it, especially when you’re portraying such a character. There were moments during the filming of ‘Sardar Udham’ where I really required a bit of introspection and imagination. To be true, it’s about trying to be in a mental state of mind to express those emotions.
The actor continued, The execution of our film has been done in a very realistic way. It’s not like we’re presenting a freedom fighter like he’s a superhero. The way Shoojit da has conceived Sardar Udham’s journey as a freedom fighter -- it feels like he’s just one of us, just another Indian. And in that realism, to be part of that canvas, you have to be really true to those emotions. That sometimes would become a challenge. But it was a very enriching experience at the same time.
