If you are ordering food from Uber Eats, be prepared to receive delivery from Zomato. It's because Uber Eats, the online food delivery firm has been acquired by Zomato starting Tuesday. Zomato today revealed that the deal gives Uber a 9.99% ownership in Zomato. Uber Eats has started directing restaurants, delivery partners, and users to the Zomato platform.

Uber Eats, which debuted in India in 2017, has over 65,000 riders and 26,000 restaurant partners. Most of them have been absorbed by Zomato.

"We entered food delivery in India in 2017 and today is when our journey takes a different route. Zomato has acquired Uber Eats in India and we'll no longer be available here with immediate effect. We wish all our users more good times with great food on the road ahead," Uber said in a statement. Welcoming the deal, Zomato noted, "It’s a big day for us and an even bigger one for Uber Eats India – all of us at Zomato want to thank everyone who has contributed to making Uber Eats India what it is today and especially you, the foodies. We look forward to this new beginning and exciting times, together."
