A Delhi based journalist, Amrita Das, has sought action against an Uber cab driver, who allegedly misbehaved with her by making vulgar remarks.

Amrita Das was travelling with her husband in the cab when she asked the driver to turn the air conditioner on. The driver, who refused to do so, allegedly asked the woman to sit on his lap if she was feeling hot. He apparently ended the trip soon after and forced the couple out. Frustrated and disturbed, Amrita took to Twitter to share her experience, where she tagged the Delhi police and demanded action against the driver. Uber Support replied to her tweet, apologizing for the same.

“Rude and creepy driver. I demand action. First, he refused to turn on the air conditioner, then says garmi lag rahi hai to aage mere godi me baith jao [If you are feeling hot then come and sit on my lap]. He also ended the trip, moments after starting to drive and forced me out. This is when I was with husband,” the complainant's post read.

Several people were seen sympathizing with the woman, most of them claiming to have faced similar experiences with rude drivers across the country. Uber also replied to some of the comments, requesting the passengers’ contact number and trip information to assist them in the matters. The company has reportedly sacked the driver and removed the customer’s access to the app temporarily pending investigation.
