U.S. Administration has minced no words in pulling up Pakistan for its ‘hypocritic’ attitude in checking terrorist activities on its soil.
Of late, U.S. has been evincing keen interest in obliterating global terrorism and has been providing liberal financial assistance to countries which stand by it in its attempt to root out terrorism. Though Pakistan is among the countries receiving huge funds from the U.S., Pakistan has been dilly-dallying without taking a sincere effort in controlling terrorist activities taking place on its soil aimed to destabilize India.
This hasn’t gone down well with the authorities in U.S. which feels cheated by Pakistan. A top level U.S. official had said that the U.S. regrets having provided 33 billion USD to Pakistan as grant for the past 15 years. In the meantime, U.S. President Donald Trump had tweeted on his Twitter account criticizing Pakistan harshly stating Pak gave U.S. only ‘deceit’ and ‘lies’ and announced that grant of USD 225,000,000 meant for Pakistan has been put on hold.
Nikki Namrata Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, has accused Pakistan of playing ‘double game’ and harbouring terrorists for many years now. “There are clear reasons for the President’s comments,” said Nikki defending Trump’s tweets. “They (Pakistan) are friendly with us at times but are harbouring terrorist who attack our troops in Afghanistan,” she remarked.
