Three more people in Tamil Nadu, two Thai nationals and a New Zealand citizen, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in the state, taking the tally to six.
All three of them have been placed in isolation and are currently under treatment. Meanwhile, people across the country have been anxious as the government is yet to establish the source of infection of the 20-year-old Delhi resident who was diagnosed with the virus in Chennai a couple of days ago. The man did not travel to any countries recently or come in contact with an infected individual, leading to a suspicion of community transmission. One more infected individual from the state is currently quarantined while another person has been discharged after complete recovery.
As of March 21 evening, the number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in India has crossed 283. Across the world, COVID-19, has claimed the lives of more than 11400 people and infected over 276000 people. The virus was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, in China. As the death toll and overall cases began rising rapidly across the world, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a global health emergency and the outbreak has now been labelled a pandemic.
