Confirming his upcoming directorial with Mammootty, cinematographer Santosh Sivan has released the title poster of the film ‘Kunjali Marakkar 4’ on social media. Produced by August Cinemas, Kunjali Marakkar 4 is scripted by T P Rajeevan and Shankar Ramakrishnan. The shooting will begin by April–May next year. 

Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the Muslim naval chief of the Zamorin (Samoothiri), during the 16th century. There were four major Kunjalis who played a part in the Zamorin’s naval wars with the Portuguese from 1502 to 1600. In ‘Kunjali Marakkar 4’ Mammootty will play Mohammed Ali, the final naval chieftain of the Zamorin Naval Commander. The casting is still going on and some big names will be acting in the film. 

It is to be noted that director Priyadarshan too has announced a project on Kunjali Marakkar's of 16th century with Mohanlal in the lead role. As there were four key Kunjali Marikkars during the era, Priyadarshan says that he haven't decided which one Mohanlal will play. It looks like the two stars will not only lock horns at the box office, but will play the same character too.
