Two phases of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections are completed. Five more phases are remaining and the last phase will be held on March 7. Yogi Adityanath is seeking a second term.
The talk of the town is that the BJP government is defeating the Samajwadi Party due to the might of its successful welfare schemes. The other reason why Yogi is the most popular CM candidate in the state is that he has suffocated goondas by implementing tough measures against them since 2017. The policing and patrolling systems were almost dysfunctional during the Akhilesh Yadav regime, the perception goes. Under Yogi, they have been made to work, reports are saying.
In summation, the two major reasons why Yogi is expected to win a second term are these: Law and order; and the free ration scheme.
At least 50% of the population of UP is benefitting from the free ration scheme. And women are feeling safe due to the paralyzing of the Goonda elements.
The results of the elections will be announced on March 10.
