The BCCI has revealed official coronavirus figures on Saturday. A day after a Chennai Super Kings fast bowler contracted the virus, the body said that another player, a batsman, has tested positive for COVID-19.
So far, 1,988 tests (all of them RT-PCR) have been carried out since August 20 on the contingents of various IPL teams. Two players and 11 others have tested positive. "They and their close contacts are asymptomatic," the BCCI added.
The names of the players will not be revealed officially.
After the BCCI's announcement, some folks have started criticizing the body for believing that UAE will be safe. "So now some CSK members test positive for Corona. I hope the folks BCCI know that Corona is borderless. By taking the IPL to UAE, you are not in less danger apart from endangering the players, officials and spectators," tweeted columnist Suhel Seth.
