Two European tourists sexually harassed at Kerala beach

Two European Women tourists who were taking a stroll on the Varkala beach, a hugely popular tourist destination in Kerala, were sexually harassed by two men. The incident happened on Monday but came to light on Thursday after the woman lodged a complaint at the Police.

The two women have been staying at a homestay near the Papanasham beach at Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram district for the past six months as they could not return to their home countries due to the COVID-induced lockdown. According to their statement, the men came who came in a bike flashed at them and tried to grab them. As they began to run, the man also followed him. After a third person saw this happened, the abuser stopped and drove away. The police have arrested one accused in connection with the incident. The shameful incident has once again raised the issue of the safety of women tourists in Kerala.
