Recently, the Parliamentary IT Committee issued summons to Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, asking him and officials of the company to appear before it. The purpose of the summons was to interrogate Twitter India over the failure to comply with the promise to safeguard the citizens' rights on the micro-blogging site.
Twitter today declared that it won't be able to appear before the committee. It added that the short notice of 10 days for hearing made it impossible for the Twitter officials to appear before the parliamentary committee.
BJP MP and the committee's head today commented that what Twitter India has done might be an issue of breach of Parliamentary privilege. "Despite taking advantage of the world's biggest market, they are unwilling to answer," he said.
