Hours after former Indian team captain MS Dhoni lost the verification badge on his Twitter account, Twitter restored it. The social networking site later informed that the blue tick was removed as the account had been inactive for a long time.
Dhoni, who has 8.2 million followers on Twitter, over 26 million on Facebook and 34.5 million on Instagram, is one of the most followed sportspersons in the country. Responding to an e-mail from a news agency about Dhoni's verification badge removal, a Twitter spokesperson said, "Thanks for your email. The verified badge of MS Dhoni's Twitter account has been restored. The referenced account has been inactive since February 2021."
The spokesperson added, "As explained in the Twitter verification policy, Twitter may automatically remove the blue verified badge and verified status if the account becomes inactive or is incomplete. Inactivity is based on logging in. To keep the account active, the account holder must make sure to log in at least every 6 months."
