Twitter has introduced the Twitter Blue feature in India after making it a successful launch in some advanced countries. Those who want to subscribe to Twitter Blue on iOS and Android must pay Rs 900 per month. The limited-period offer costs lesser for the web version. Some reports have put the figure at Rs 650.

There is this view that Twitter Blue's cost has been put on the higher side in India. The figure is inexplicable, considering that the Indian consumer mindset is attuned to paying less. "This is way more than what you are charging others and not even adjusted to the Purchasing Power Parity. Kindly look into this if you are targeting mass acceptance," tweeted Ashu, a Chartered Accountant.

Users of Twitter Blue get to enjoy some features like an editing window, undoing a tweet, etc.

The experiment hasn't been quite successful in the US. As per a recent report, Twitter only had around 180,000 paid subscribers in the US, which is less than 0.2% of its monetizable monthly active users. "With around 290,000 paying subscribers globally, this would imply just about $28 million in annual revenue — 1% of Twitter's total," a report by The Information said.

And users are also miffed that Elon Musk's ownership hasn't changed Twitter much. "Impressive how, 10 months after making an offer to buy it, Musk still hasn't released any new products or features. It's all just the same site, only worse: clueless fiddling with the algorithm, broken API, busted verification," a Twitter user wrote.
