Twisters Storms Domestic Box Office, Hits $123.2M Globally

Driving its worldwide revenues to $123.2M, Universal/Warner Bros/Amblin's Twisters has exceeded domestic predictions. Although global numbers line up with expectations, the domestic market greatly improved the performance of the movie. Universal has domestic rights; Warner manages worldwide distribution and brings in $27.1M from 76 markets this session. Last week, this followed an early release in 38 countries. Globally, there is a 30% overall decline that results in a $42.7M offshore total.

In Latin America, Colombia (+8%), Argentina (+1%), Mexico (-22%), Peru (-23%), and Brazil (-31%) had consistent performance. Australia sank twenty-one percent. The movie is still to be released by Korea and Japan.

Illumination/Universal's Despicable Me 4 has meanwhile crossed $500M worldwide and approaches $600M. With $52 million from 79 markets, the movie dropped 42% overseas, bringing its international total to $315 million and global to $574.4 million. With a $4.4M studio opening, Japan's premiere was the biggest one of the year With a contribution of $7.1M, the UK ranked highest; China's whole contribution comes to $31.5M.

Third biggest movie of the year in Mexico, Despicable Me 4 beats the lifetime of Frozen II and Ice Age 3. Mexico ($32.1M), China ($31.5M), Australia ($25.8M), UK ($23.2M), and Brazil ($18.3M) make the top five markets.

With an international total of $846.9M and a global tally of $1,443.3M, Disney/Pixar's Inside Out 2 grossed $34.2M in its sixth weekend, ranking 15th best grossing film worldwide. It should top Frozen II to rank among the highest grossing animated films.

With $3.7M in five days, Sony's Padre No Hay Mas Que Uno 4 ranked highest in the box office in Spain. With $8.5 million from Imax, the local comedy Successor grossed $213M in China upon its debut.
