All of a sudden, many on Twitter are making mass requests to SS Rajamouli to make an epic drama based on the Ramayana. At the time of writing this, #RajamouliMakeRamayan was trending on the micro-blogging site, with more than 11,000 tweets. Most Twitter users, who ostensibly are from North India, have said that only the 'Baahubali' maker can do full justice to the subject.

"Written by Sage Valmiki, rewritten by Saint Tulsidas, televised by Ramanand Sagar.. Now next is what? Directed by Rajamouli: Ramayan: The Legend of Raja Ram!" a user opined.

Ramanand Sagar's old Hindi-language DD serial recently became the world's most-watched TV serial, with 7.70 crore impressions on April 17, when it was re-telecast. This only goes to show that there is a hunger for the epic. "Ramayan's re-telecast breaks all the television world records. Its re-make will surely break all the cinema world records. And when we have Rajamouli with us, there's nothing that can stop this," another user wrote.

On his part, the 'RRR' director is definitely interested in adapting an epic, but it is Mahabharata and not Ramayana. "When I take up the project, it is going to consume 10 years of my life. It will not feature stars," Rajamouli once told a TV channel.
