Earlier today, Thalapathy Vijay, the president of TVK, issued a strong statement criticizing the state government's handling of the Kallakurichi tragedy. The consumption of toxic illicit liquor has claimed the lives of over 39 people, with nearly 100 others hospitalized in serious condition.

Vijay recently visited Kallakurichi General Hospital this evening to offer condolences to the families of the deceased victims of illicit alcohol and to personally inquire about the well-being of those who were seriously affected by the tragic incident. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated a relief fund of Rs. 10 lakhs for the families of the deceased victims of the illicit alcohol tragedy. This incident has sparked significant concern within the state, prompting opposition parties to question the state's law and order situation regarding the illegal sale and consumption of illicit liquor.
