Life has not been kind to television actress Saranya who was stricken by cancer six years ago and she has undergone surgery seven times till date. Since she is the sole breadwinner of her family she has found it extremely difficult to make ends meet looking after the basic necessities and education of her younger siblings and mother. A few weeks back an appeal was made to popular celebrities from the Malayalam industry to help Saranya and a few are said to have responded favorably.

Last week heavy rains has devastated Kerala for the second time in a year and many people have lost their lives ad their belongings. Saranya from her meager savings for her cancer treatment has donated a part of it to the Kerala Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Thousands on social media have lauded the actress's gesture even though she is fighting a difficult battle in her life.
