TV actress arrested for printing fake currency

In a shocking incident in Kollam (Kerala), a Malayalam TV actress and two members of her family were arrested on Tuesday for printing counterfeit currency notes. The total value of the fake currency they have printed is Rs 57 lakh.

The actress in question is Surya Sasikumar, the other two arrested being her sister Shruthi and their mother Rema Devi, whom the police have described as the kingpin of the scandal.

Rema Devi reportedly spent something like Rs 4.36 lakh to carry out the clandestine operation. There are at least six other crime partners involved. They will be arrested soon.

In a related development, in the same town (Kollam), another seizure which would have resulted in the printing of currency with a face value of Rs 7 crore, was busted by the police in a timely manner.
