TV Actor-Anchor Lobo Sentenced to One Year in Jail

Popular TV actor and anchor Khayyum alias Lobo has been sentenced by a court in connection with a fatal road accident that occurred in 2018. The Jangaon Court, in its recent verdict, awarded him one year imprisonment along with a fine of ?12,500.

Back in 2018, Lobo was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol on the Warangal–Hyderabad highway when his vehicle rammed into an auto-rickshaw. The collision was severe, resulting in the instant death of two passengers traveling in the auto, while several others sustained serious injuries. The tragic incident caused a huge stir in the locality at the time.

Following complaints from the victims’ families, police registered a case immediately. After collecting evidence, they booked Lobo under charges of negligent driving, drunk driving, and causing death by accident, and subsequently produced him before the court.

After years of trial proceedings, the court finally pronounced its judgment, sentencing Lobo to one year in jail in addition to a fine of ?12,500. This verdict has become a hot topic in television and entertainment circles.
