The superstars sure send their fans in a frenzy when they appear on screen whether in a full fledged role or sometimes in a brief cameo or guest role.  Here on Tuesday Trivia, we take a look at some of the top heroes who have shined in guests roles sometimes even to the extent of stealing the thunder from the main actors.

Rajinikanth - 'Naan Vaazha Vaipen'

Sivaji Ganesan played a tragic hero in this film who knows that he is going to die soon and tries to do the best for his family before that.  Rajini appears well after the interval giving huge relief to the fans who went gaga. HIs role of  Michael who after a fight with the hero helps him in the end by sacrificing himself went down well with the crowd. Legend has it that Sivaji Ganesan knew during the shooting itself that he was going to be overshadowed by Rajini and stated it to the superstar.  Watch out for the Rajini style in the song "Aagayam mele".

Kamal Haasan - 'Sathi Leelavathi'

The film had Ramesh Aravind as the hero who is caught up between his innocent village wife (Kalpana) and a modern girl (Heera).  Though the film is comical from the very beginning it is after the entry of Kamal in a guest role as the doctor friend of the hero that things heat up and reach the peak of laugh out loud fare.  Watch out for the scene in which Kovai Sarala fights with Kamal and the song "Maarugo maarugo".

Vijayakanth - 'Oomai Vizhigal'

In this breakthrough thriller movie directed by Aravindraj there is a cruel rapist minister and an uknown killer on the rampage and the journalist protagonists Chandrasekhar and Arunpandian are the unlikely heroes.  However Vijayakanth appears in the interval as the no-nonsense cop and literally swayed the audiences as DSP. Deenadayalan.

K.Bhagyaraj - 'Naan Sigappu Manithan'

Superstar Rajinikanth played a calm professor by the day who hunts and murders his sister's rapist in this S.A, Chandrasekhar film.  Bhagyaraj appears just before the climax as the undercover cop and steals the thunder from everyone else.

Karthick - 'Mouna Ragam'

In Mani Ratnam's tale of a just married woman who cannot forget her dead lover, the Ilayraja songs and the Mohan-Revathi acting holds the attention.  But the story picks up steam only after the flashback entry of Karthick and his cheerfull demeanour in the famous "Mr. Chandramouli" scene among others.  Karthick made the role his own so much so that it has become a reference point when writing characters for movies.

Ajith - 'Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen'

The Vikraman family drama already has the stellar performances of Karthik and Roja driving the film along with the lilting music of S.A. Rajkumar.  The younger audience of the time were treated to a sweet cameo by Ajith as Roja's suitor who is the person who understands the depth of the feelings the hero has for ther heroine.  A reveiwer wrote that it was difficult for her to take her eyes of Thala the entire time he was on screen.

Simbu - 'Kaaka Muttai' , 'Goa'

In the Dhanush produced internationally acclaimed film, Simbu agreed to do a self deprecating cameo appearance as himself and he unflinchingly does his part.  Similarly in Goa Simbu's cameo appearance of his 'Manmathan' character proved to be a perfect foil for the bad girl Sneha.
