The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has reportedly decided to sell the famous Tirupati laddu 'prasadam' at a 50% discount. The sale will happen in all district headquarters of Andhra Pradesh, and the three major cities of Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
"The 175-gram laddu, which is priced at Rs 50 each, would be sold at Rs 25," a Liveminte report says. This offering has been described by the TTD as a "token of gift to the devotees" at a time when the temple has been closed since March 25.
In just two months, the TTD has suffered a loss of Rs 200 Cr due to the lockdown.
As reported already, plans are afoot to reopen the temple. Arrangements are in place to accommodate up to 30,000 devotees per day for darshan. It's another matter whether those many pilgrims will be ready to visit in times of the pandemic.
