Embarking on a transformative journey, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) sets the stage for a historic chapter with the unveiling of its annual budget estimates for the fiscal year 2024-25, soaring to an impressive 5,000 crore.

Insiders familiar with the proceedings reveal a meticulous financial plan, where the temple's 'hundi' takes center stage as the primary source of income, while the disbursement of salaries and wages dominates the expenditure side. Despite the 'hundi' retaining its top position in generating revenue, projections indicate a marginal decrease compared to the previous fiscal year.

Breaking away from tradition, the TTD board convened on January 29, deviating from the customary approval of the budget in February/March. This shift sparked speculations, with murmurs suggesting the anticipation of the model code of conduct for upcoming general elections, potentially being enforced in the weeks ahead.

The governing body meeting witnessed pivotal decisions shaping the course of the TTD's future. The approved annual budget of 5,141 crore for 2024-25 reflects a strategic financial blueprint. As part of the Dharma campaign, a unique initiative was unveiled, offering Mangal Sutras to devotees in the form of gold dollars, presented at the feet of Shri, presenting a special opportunity for newly married couples. Additionally, 70 employees of the TTD Potu department were acknowledged as skilled labor, with their salaries receiving a commendable increase of Rs.15 thousand.

Focusing on education, salaries for 51 teachers in 6 Vedic schools under TTD are set to witness a substantial hike from Rs.35 thousand to Rs.54 thousand. The pension for Vedic scholars is also set to increase from Rs.10 thousand to Rs.12 thousand. The commitment to spiritual well-being extends to the salaries of priests in TTD temples, along with the appointment of 56 Vedaparayandar posts. Concurrently, contract employees involved in water works, Annaprasadam, and TTD stores will experience an uplift in their remuneration.

With 26 temples under TTD, the governing body has sought government permission to appoint devotee welfare workers in 34 temples. Notable infrastructure projects, including a four-lane road from Gogarbam to Akashganga (Rs.30 crores), and allocations for the development of Veera Bhadraswamy temple in Narayanavana (Rs.6.9 crores) and swims (Rs.148 crores), were approved. Saptagiri Guest Houses are set to undergo a transformation with an allocation of Rs.2.5 crores, while Rs.10 crores have been earmarked for the development of SMC and SSC cottages.

In a gesture of gratitude, TTD passed a resolution thanking CM Jagan for his cooperation in allotting houses for TTD employees. Simultaneously, TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy announced a charity conference from February 3 to 5, where 57 abbots and prefects will share their insights. The charity campaign will guide TTD in implementing suggestions and advice received during the conference. As the annual budget is approved, the governing body is resolute in ensuring meticulous arrangements for Dharmika Samadhas, with only four days left, intensifying efforts to uphold its prestige.
