Soon after the Telangana government announced non-essential lockdown in the State on Sunday evening, popular TV anchor and actress Anasuya Bharadwaj took to Twitter to make a request to the government on behalf of everyone. "Sir..with due respect and will to abide by the Govt..just to throw light..considering some professions..if we can’t go to work..we don’t make our incomes..but we have to bear monthly mandatory expenses like house rent, power bills, EMIs etc..request you to consider such situations," Anasuya said.
The tweet triggered many of her followers, who berated and abused the talented anchor, accusing her of being insensitive to the emergency situation the world is in. They told her to not parade her worries when millions are going through hard times.
On her part, Anasuya tried her best to explain her position more clearly. "I work my a$$ off to get or be where I am today..nothing comes just like that..and who exactly will pay me to pay them if I am not going to work? Just asking.. Money doesn't grow on trees for me," she tweeted out.
She later added, "What I said was to urge everyone to be compassionate.. in some affected countries they waived off rental payments.. banks are letting the EMIs postponed for a few months .. My earlier tweet was to throw light on this.. not at all going against the lockdown."
Even as the barrage of trolling continued, Anasuya kept on blocking a number of users on Twitter and Instagram. So much so, her "fingers started paining"!
