"WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF. AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!" Donald Trump has said on Sunday mid-night (American time). The tweet is indicative of the US President's inclination to end the lockdown in parts of America by April first week even if the Coronavirus outbreak threat doesn't end.
Commenting on the tweet, commentator Arnab Ray said, "So the US is now going for the worst case. Millions dead. Older people and people with pre-existing conditions. Wall Street has made the call." An American doctor interpreted it like this: "Translation: Trump cares about the Dow Jones Industrial Average and his re-election chances more than he cares about the lives of the American people."
This is what Trump had said about extending the 15-day lockdown in parts of the US hours before the confusing tweet: “I hope we won’t have to (extend the social distancing guidelines currently in operation in the country)."
