US President Donald Trump has requested Narendra Modi to supply Hydroxychloroquine tablets to the US. America wants to use the drug in the treatment of COVID-19.
As per the indications from various media reports, India is ready to export the drug to the US by making an exception for the US. The export of the tablets has been banned otherwise. "President Trump just announced that during his chat with PM Modi, he requested for Hydroxychloroquine from India since a lot of it is manufactured in India. Trump claims India is considering the request. We should help once we have stocked enough for our own needs," says Ram Prasad, a social media influencer.
Eugene Gu, MD, a well-known doctor from the US, cautions against using the drug by COVID-19 negative individuals. "Under no circumstances should hydroxychloroquine be used as prophylaxis against the coronavirus for patients who test negative and have no symptoms. Trump telling everyone that he may take the drug despite testing negative twice and having no symptoms is extremely irresponsible," he tweets out.
