Trump's Kashmir row: Rahul demands answer from Modi

Many hours after Donald Trump claimed that Narendra Modi requested him to mediate on Kashmir between India and Pakistan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday demanded that the Prime Minister himself should issue a statement on what transpired between him and the US President.
"President Trump says PM Modi asked him to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir! If true, PM Modi has betrayed India’s interests and the 1972 Shimla Agreement. A weak Foreign Ministry denial won’t do. The PM must tell the nation what transpired in the meeting between him and Potus," RaGa tweeted out.
Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar issued a statement in the Rajya Sabha, indicating that Trump's claims are untrue. "I would categorically assure the house that no such request has been made by PM Modi to US President," he said.
