Union Cabinet Minister Smriti Irani has on Wednesday said that the ruling TRS and AIMIM are in cahoots with each other to ensure that illegal immigrants living in Hyderabad have a place on the voter's list. On Tuesday, Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay had made a similar suggestion during an election rally.
"Our soldiers are fighting relentlessly to keep our borders safe. And here in this historical city of Hyderabad, the two parties are working in tandem to give illegal immigrants a place in Telangana's voter's list," Irani has been quoted as saying by ANI. She added that the two parties are answerable to people.
Supporting an anti-Love Jihad law, to be made by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, Irani said that the legislations are needed to ensure that women who are "criminally and fraudulently coerced into relationships" are protected.
On its part, the TRS and MIM have rejected the anti-illegals rhetoric of the saffron party.
