The Telangana Rashtra Samiti is on a roll. On Saturday, it has won a clean landslide in the municipal elections in Telangana by registering victories in 110 out of the 120 municipalities and 7 out of 9 municipal corporations. The local body elections were held on January 22.
The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which were hoping for a revival, have come in for a shock. They could make do with just 4 and 2 municipalities. On the other hand, Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM has reportedly won a majority of the wards in Bhainsa municipality in Adilabad district.
The independents and rebels have done well in Nizamabad, Mirpet, and Ramagundam.
Speaking to the media today, Minister KT Rama Rao said that the number is an extremely big one. "I thank people of the state for reposing faith in the leadership of CM K Chandrashekar Rao," he added.
